Are these different email addresses on the same domain, presumably that you own ?

I think that's probably a feature, but is manifesting itself as a defect in your case.

I guess the fix would be for Gixen not to update the notification address when it is supplied with a different address via Paypal, so long as the one it's currently using is functioning as expected.

That would require extra detection of email addresses that are no longer functioning as receivers of Gixen emails. Perhaps via non delivery notifications as and when they occur. I've seen other sites, including Ebay, use similar techniques to restrict the emails they send out... but, unfortunately, that causes further consequences with temporary issues with emails (like, Inboxes being full/domain renewal issues/IP address changes etc.) causing the chosen address not to be used, even once that temporary issue is resolved.

Perhaps it's best to leave it as it is and for you to have the inconvenience of having to reset it to your preferred address once a year ?

My Gixen notification email address and the PayPal email address used to make recurring annual payments were distinct.

Following the first automatic renewal of my Gixen account, the notification email address has been replaced with the PayPal email address.

I was wondering where my Gixen emails had gone. I use the To/Envelope-To header to filter emails on the receiving mail server into different IMAP folders.

Obviously, I can set the notification email address back each year to its original setting. Is this a bug or a feature (or both :))?
