The only way that this can possibly work is how Gixen does it, which is to submit the bid you specify at the offset you specify.

Any behaviour that involves submitting multiple bids (because most of the time you don't know what the maximum bid already placed actually is) would involve having to start to bid much earlier and would still leave you open to be outbid by a later snipe from another bidder at a lower price than you were willing to pay.

Of course, because of the way Ebay bidding works you are never asked to pay more than one bid increment more than the next highest accepted bid.

I am trying to figure out how bidding on gixen works.

When I input my bid, does either
1) Snipe the item at the bid I input
2) Snipe the item by bidding by the minimum bid increment (e.g. +$1 of current price)

I just started using Gixen and read the FAQs, but couldn't find clarification about the sniping behavior.
