In your case, if you are a UK customer, probably the best is to set the main server to UK with higher offset (e.g. 6 or 8) and mirror server to US with lower offset (e.g. 3 or 6, but lower than main offset). That way you almost always bid on ebay UK, while having some additional security that your bid will be submitted on ebay.com if something goes wrong with submission to ebay.uk. This also protects you from ebay UI changes that can break sniping, as ebay almost never updates both at the same time.
Another reason for UK customers to bid through eBay UK is that if you've linked your Nectar card with eBay, you can only collect Nectar points for sales resulting from bids placed on eBay UK.
I just noticed this when checking my Nectar statement: "You committed to buy this item on an eBay site outside of eBay.co.uk, so the purchase does not qualify for Nectar points."

goodlittlekitty,
I think you are on the wrong tack in some ways... The Gixen servers do the same thing every time they try to place the bid you schedule as a snipe, at the time you ask them to.
The Main and Mirror servers do that independently, they do not talk to each other about it.
The changes that Mario is referring to are the changes in the way that the Ebay site looks to you in a standard browser... when you, as a human, see things look a bit different you adapt to that quite naturally, like two people talking to you using the same words but a slightly different accent, or using different words but with the same meaning, you don't even notice the difference... Gixen is an automated system it doesn't have human intelligence, it doesn't have artificial intelligence either, it has to be changed to understand those differences when the changes take place.
Otherwise it does not react properly to what is on the Ebay site and things don't work... Ebay changes things a little bit all the time, as a human things you don't even notice have changed when you look very hard can affect an automated system like Gixen.
Each Gixen server is a one shot process if it fails because Ebay has changed things then it can't try again, apart from anything else there is not time to do that, Gixen has to be changed so that it does something different for the next snipes and until it is changed all snipes using that version of the Gixen software are likely to fail.
Fortunately Mario is very studious and capable so things get changed very rapidly after Ebay messes them up.

Post subject: Ebay UI changes?
Thank you, Mario. If I understand you correctly, ebay's site experiences random changes in code protocols that effectively change locks on their servers' front door? Gixen has to crash the party or B&E the place in nanoseconds in order to get a snipe inside in time? Can Gixen redirect a bid that fast, on a back and forth computational basis, trip the new algorhythmic tumblers? I have no idea if what I'm trying to ask is clear or not.
Can Gixen follow ebay's moving shell game some of the time? Does it analyze changes it encounters later, internally, in after action reports, using what it learned to compensate for those changes? Can it do that to succeed in lodging a later bid in another auction?
I've noticed a huge difference in ebay site feature functionality between the U.S. and Canada sites, when I access either from a mobile device anyway. Does that have anything to do with why one of my recent snipes said "won by mirror"?
Sorry. Too many questions in one post. All your answers are appreciated. Do Gixen mirror sites know about each other? Do they each torpedo ebay's servers using slightly different protocols from one another to optimize impact or does one just zig and then the other one...also zigs?
Do the mirror services carpet bomb ebay with identical protocols or do they mix it up by using alternate approaches to ebay's servers? is what I'm asking, I think. A horribly long and rambling post, my apologies.
Thanks, too.

goodlittlekitty,
Sniping services work by parsing web pages. In other words, they imitate your web browser, then parse and extract significant information from them. When eBay changes the design of their web, things break.
I hope I made it at least somewhat more clear?

Post subject: Ebay UI change?
"Ebay UI change"? What does that stand for?
"User Interface change"?
"Unidentified Irksome change"?
"Unrecognized International" change?
Could you guys please speak using plain English. I'm trying very hard to learn here. Thank you!

Thank you, Mario, for your prompt answer.
I think I've understood your explanations, which will be tested shortly.
Thanks again.

Target site is ebay site where your snipe will be submitted to. This matters only for insurance purposes (e.g. who do you contact, ebay.com or ebay UK if something goes wrong). Some items are available only on certain country site, e.g. ebay Germany. "autotarget" setting takes care of it - it will switch target site if needed.
I hope what I just explained makes sense to you.
