| Rather than putting "max bid" in the form, this should be in a FAQ, which is in the works. Technically, "max bid" is a misnomer: you simply enter a bid. The source of confusion is that eBay auctions are second-price auctions, which means that the amount you pay is the amount of the second-highest bidder's bid (plus a small additional amount called a "bid increment"). eBay should call this the "winning price", but instead they call it the "winning bid", even though it is rarely equal to an actual bid. |
