| Hi, can I place a different maximum bid with gixen, and a lower one with ebay? |

Yes. Moreover, your bid from Gixen will not cause your cost to go up: only bids from other eBayers can do that. _________________ John

As John says, yes you can and, provided that no one else places a bid between the two, the price does not rise as a result.
There are very restricted circumstances under which it is wise to do so though:
(i) perhaps to remove a BIN option at a price above that which you are prepared to pay,
(ii) if you think the seller is likely to make revisions that will increase the likelyhood that others will take more interest in the auction, perhaps they have misspelled key words in the title, or,
(ii) if you think that there may be a restriction to bidding that you wish to test for and potentially have removed should it exist.
Other strategies usually just result in a higher price being paid as bids on an auction in general tend to attract other bids that increase the price. _________________ Mark |
