|
|
Hi!
Has the add-on broken since a recent release of FireFox? I'm running 3.5.4 for Mac and no longer get the 'Snipe This Item' icon on ebay.com or .co.uk listings which used to work fine.
Perhaps it's something to do with the new eBay page design? I haven't changed anything in my setup and can still see Greasemonkey and the Gixen script (which is enabled) in the FireFox Tools menu.
Actually I just tried it in FireFox under Windows XP and there's no longer 'Snipe This Item' icon in eBay/com or .co.uk listings there either. Same deal, the script & Greasemonkey are both installed & configured and they used to work fine.
Incidentally thanks for the Greasemonkey-for-IE information John.

This appears to be due to some change eBay made: see the thread where this is being discussed in the Support forum:

Autosnipe has been updated for changes in US layout.
Just install the script again for the lastest update.

Hi all,
I've read this entire thread trying to work out the best way to easily snipe auctions. I have tried Greasemonkey with the Gixen script, however for me personally, I would prefer a toolbar bookmark. This is because at the moment, I snipe with both Gixen and QuickSnipe, and QuickSnipe has a toolbar bookmark I use... so I'd like to have both the snipers I use accessible from my toolbar.
You may wonder why I use Gixen AND QuickSnipe... well, I really do LOVE Gixen & think it's a great service, and I'm sure at some point I will subscribe to the Mirror service and just use Gixen. But at the moment I am out of work and really struggling with money, and trying to pinch pennies whereever I can until I am more financially able. So for now, I use QuickSnipe as a kind-of Mirror replacement. Hope you understand.
Anyway, I was wondering about the toolbar button Fred4Christ recommended way back. I know someone said you have to be careful about security when using something from an unknown source, but it seems to say that on the userscripts site too... and given that a toolbar button would be more convenient for me, I'd really rather use it. So does anyone know how to look at the code and say whether it is secure? Here it is again, so you don't have to find it.
javascript:i=location.pathname.match("QQitemZ([0-9]*)QQ")[1];su="h t t p s://w w w.gixen.com/autosnipe.php?&username=&itemid="+i+"&
maxbid=0.99&bidoffset=6&quantity=1&snipegroup=1";void(window.open(su,'',
'toolbar=0,scrollbars=1,location=0,statusbar=0,menubar=0,resizable=1,width=
1120,height=550'))
Thanks

There is nothing malicious in that code, whether or not it will actually do what you want is another matter though. _________________ Mark |
