Hi juangrande,
Thanks for the comment. I suspected as much, but I can't find a way to register/sign-up for the forum. How does one do that? Can you provide a link? Thanks, Jan

Membership in this forum is independent from having a Gixen account. That is why being logged in to Gixen was not recognized by this forum.

Hi Mario,
Sorry for the "Guest" post. I guess it didn't think that I was still logged in. Hmmm, I just did the "Log in Now", but it took me to the Gixen bidding page, not to the Community (forum). Is there no way to log into the Community (forum)? Do I have to enter my Username every I post in order for it not to be posted as Guest?

Btw, I see this at the bottom:

You cannot edit your posts in this forum
You cannot delete your posts in this forum
You cannot vote in polls in this forum

Why can I not do those things? Regards, Jan

Hi Mario,

Thanks for the quick reply — much appreciated! Some follow-up:

> Gixen no longer asks for, retrieves or stores your eBay password at all

OK, great to know! When you get a chance, it would be a good idea to update the FAQ for Gixen newbies like me. Also, I suggest changing the 2015 copyright date on the site to 2018 — will give a warm feeling to new visitors to see the 2018 date. :)

> instead Gixen username and password are used, and authorization on eBay is used to place your bids

But I think that leaves a vulnerability, i.e., if the Gixen database of usernames/passwords is hacked, then the hackers can place bids for my eBay account — right? I can't think of any way around that, so it comes with the territiry, and on the plus side, a big advantage is that they won't be able to log into my eBay account, which means they can't ship to themselves and they can't pay for the goods via my eBay payment mechanisms — so that's great news!

So far, Gixen is looking terrific! Regards, Jan

This is old information - as of August 2017 Gixen no longer asks for, retrieves or stores your eBay password at all - instead Gixen username and password are used, and authorization on eBay is used to place your bids.

The FAQ says that Gixen stores passwords for only 48 hours past the latest scheduled snipe. That's great from a security perspective, since the odds are good that your password won't be in the site if hackers steal the Gixen database (unless you're a daily sniper). But doesn't this also mean that you have to re-enter your eBay password in Gixen every time you snipe, if your last snipe was more than 48 hours ago? Thanks, Jan
