Please email Mario at the Gixen support address as given on the Contact page.

There are other reasons than a server problem that could cause this, and Mario can check the server logs to determine what the issue was.

i just experienced 4 "http timeout (77)" errors in a row a few minutes apart, and another one several minutes later after a string of snipes with no issues at all. if not for the mirror, i would have lost 5 items today, and this is not the first time I've encountered this issue. i had another flurry of them yesterday. have we ever gotten an actual cause pinpointed for this problem, or is fixing it still pretty much a stab in the dark? what is causing this to continue to happen? does anyone know?

In addition to Johns excellent advice please be aware that grouped snipes are never Mirrored and that there was a recent incident that affected the Main server, causing HTTP TIMEOUT (77) and ENDED snipe failures which is detailed here.

The default offset is 6 seconds, but 3 seconds should be fine.

I recommend that you email Mario at the Gixen support address found on the Contact page (click the [Contact] tab at the top of any Gixen page). Provide your Gixen username and the auction ID so it can be looked up in the logs.

I had a HTTP TIMEOUT (77) recently! I checked the shipping regulations and they were just fine.

I wish to know if my offset time ( 3 seconds) is causing this? I use the paid Gixen mirror service and want to know if sniping at 3 seconds is safe/reliable

What is the most reliable sniping speed and is there a guarantee that my bid will be entered?

It wasn't a timeout, the message is wrong, and the reason is because response returned by eBay had too much clutter and was too long to enter into the database, and in absence of it another process concluded timeout must have happened. I am working on fixing this.

I checked the logs, and the real reason is: "We are sorry but the item you selected may not be purchased due to Seller shipping restrictions, country specific import/export or other relevant restrictions."

Thanks, Mark, for answering this more carefully than I did.

algor21, you did what more of us should do and searched the forum for the error they were experiencing.

It might be helpful to email Mario directly about this at his support address (which can be found by clicking the Contact tab at the top of the Gixen homepage).

algor21,

Are these Mirrored snipes ?

If so, I am quite surprised that you got a timeout error on both the Main and the Mirror.

That has always been rare, but with the new technology it's an even more unlucky occurrence.

Yes, it will work. This thread began over three years ago. Recent upgrades to Gixen have made it even more reliable than it was then.

Over on another post,

To re-affirm - number of failed snipes (excluding account issues) has dropped 5-fold at least, and is now approximately at 1 in 1000. The last I looked it was 7 late snipes out of 6,990 sent.

And this is with main server only. With mirror I yet have to see a (non-account related) failure at all.

PostPosted: Wed Aug 16, 2017 10:51 pm    Post subject: SNIPE FAILS THREE TIMES WITHIN 15 DAYS

I scheduled bids at the very beginning of the auction,
exemple : BID 162625234655 scheduled at 214 $....with a price higher than the final bid ..188.50 $
For the third time within 15 DAYS in the USA and it says :
HTTP TIME OUT
In the mean time I scheduled bids for Europe and IT DID WORK !
I used to make ,in the past ,winning bids in the US WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM !
WHO can give me an explanation to resolve this problem?

Post scriptum :
scheduled bid at the very beginning 152657362919 at 214 $ ( still from the same seller ) ending friday 18th august at 01:00
So will it work ?

This specific error happens once in every 2,000 snipes, unless there is a serious problem of some sort.

With the free service failures of snipes for any reason (other than Ebay issues that could never be avoided) are around 1 in 200. With a Mirror subscription that figure drops considerably.

on occasion? how often would you say, one in every ten?

Unfortunately you've been very unlucky. It's an isolated timeout, and these happen on occasion. I'm quite sorry it happened on your very first snipe.

I tried Gixen for the very first time on this item 261494206624 and it failed with the error:
HTTP TIMEOUT (77)

Does Gixen work anymore?
