No, later is not always better.
This has been discussed many, many times on here, you can search back through the threads if you have a little time on your hands.
The idea is to bid later than anyone else can react to, not necessarily last... and about 20 seconds is sufficient for that, otherwise the reaction is not a reaction at all, it's just someone sitting there waiting to place a bid they have already decided to place, or having scheduled it via a service such as this one.
If you bid very late you loose the advantage of the bid increment rule, working in your favour, against other snipers that are also willing to pay around the same amount as you are... More often they will win by bidding earlier and then your bid being blocked because it is not at least one bid increment more than the current auction price.. Whereas it would have been accepted and may have blocked the others and won, if it had been placed a few seconds earlier.
Anyway, only Mario can investigate why your bids were placed 5 seconds before the end when you claim to have set the snipe up to have an offset of just 2 seconds on both the Main and Mirror servers. You may find you get a quicker response if you email him direct at the support address given on the

Post subject: Timing
Mine was GBP 420. Surely the idea is to snipe as close to the ending to jump the other bidders.

Are you the bidder at GBP 420.00 or GBP 337.00 ?
Personally I'd not recommend 2 seconds it's too low... I'd recommend 8 or 10, to gain the advantage of the bid increment rule.
Those later bids were coming anyway, they were not a reaction to your bid.

I have signed up to mirror and chosen 2 secs. It appears that 6 secs is being applied. Can this be rectified please?
